What are the onpage factors that affect SEO? Are they as important as we make them out to be in the forums and other places that talk about SEO? The fact is on page factors do have an impact on your SEO but not near as high in my findings as some would like to think. To start off I want to say I worry about the on page factors as late as possible. I feel that there are just a few little factors that you must incorporate into your body design to truly benefit the most from off page optimization which allows you to get closer to the top. The three factors are to put your keywords in the title tag, the meta description text, and the meta keyword tag. Then you want to sprinkle your keyword through the body text.
Now it is time to go work on your optimization off of your site. Then you test things like H1 tags, bold text, link text and so on. Once you are able to see where you are you can test one thing at a time to see if it has any type of impact.
Each time you get to a position, unless it is number one, your goal is to move up one more position. The way you do that is by getting better links than the guy above you or by having a more relevant page. You decide this by looking at what they have and seeing if you can improve. You just need to be careful not to over optimize and that is why we try one thing at a time and see what the results are.
